I have struggled with whether or not I wanted to add this to my website, but I am seeing more and more people coming to me because they have lost cats to HCM before they reach five years of age.  This is a frightening, unexpected and devasting disease. Before you get a "good deal" on a Maine Coon, please make sure the people you purchase your coon from does testing for HCM. Please know that DNA testing and "screening" is not the same.  If people are screening, they are only doing ultrasounds to make sure their males do not have HCM at that time.  This does not mean that they will not pass the gene to your kitten.  Be Educated and Be Aware! Washington State University where the testing is done states over 33% of the cats they perform DNA testing on has at least one on the genes.

If you purchased a kitten from a breeder and you are not sure if they have done testing, http://www.vetmed.wsu.edu/ClientEd/hcm.aspx is the link, it will be the best $60.00 investment you make!  If you have put a deposit on a kitten and the breeder doesn't test, ask them if you can take them to the vet to have the test swab taken and send it off yourself.  The results come in two weeks.

Always remember you get what you pay for, we cannot guarantee even with the DNA testing that your cat will not get HCM, but the chances of it having the disease through the passing of the gene, is reduced significantly.

Before looking at my babies, we have to seriously talk about declawing.  My contract states no declaw.  I placed a kitten with a couple in Marco Island and they decided to do a declaw against my contract.  They were doing a spay at the same time.  The kitten was only 4 months old.  The Kitten DIED during surgery.  Since the  Dr. knows that HCM is a maine coon problem, the assumption was that the cats heart stopped due to HCM. We had an autopsy done and IT WAS NOT HCM. I believe with my whole heart is that kitten received too much anesthesia for the surgery because it needed to be out longer than normal for the declaw.  So please if you feel you must declaw a cat. Got to another breeder, this breeder will not be losing babies because someone is worried about their couch.

Deposits are coming in, a kitten is not sold without a Deposit.

, I would be happy to discuss the possibility of a forever home for a kitten.  Please email me at pjohnson_001@msn.com or call me at 727-638-9214.  The kittens well being is our priority.

Thanks and Happy Kitten Hunting
